Dr. Gibson received her Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. Dr. Gibson is Board Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. Dr. Gibson is experienced at treating anxiety, OCD, Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors, selective mutism, mood disorders and behavioral challenges in children and teens. Dr. Gibson utilizes Evidence-Based Cognitive-Behavioral approaches including the Coping Cat protocol for the treatment of anxious youth. Dr. Gibson has additional expertise in the treatment of trauma in children, and is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Dr. Gibson completed clinical training at two trauma specialty clinics, The Chadwick Center for Children and Families in San Diego, CA and Safe Horizon Counseling Center in Brooklyn, NY, treating children, teens and parents after experiencing trauma. Dr. Gibson also received American Psychological Association (APA) accredited clinical training at Astor Services for Children and Families, a non-profit outpatient community mental health center in the Bronx where she worked in both outpatient and day treatment settings. Dr. Gibson went on to be the Clinical Supervisor at one of Astor's outpatient clinics. Dr. Gibson is certified by PCIT International as a therapist and Level 1 trainer in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an Evidence Based Treatment for young children with behavior problems and their caregivers. PCIT has also been used effectively with anxious and traumatized youth.
